Sometimes in THE SPOTLIGHT we talk about our clients, sometimes it’s events and art openings, and obviously we’re fond of the work Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta does on a daily basis (and we’re definitely proud about Gene joining their Board of Directors this month!), but today we’re hungry…and that brings up one of our favorites, Cakes & Ale.

Located in Decatur, but with an almost Santa Monica sensibility, Cakes & Ale always delivers. And, since Chef Billy Allin got his start at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, and then at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, we recommend pairing a dinner at Cakes & Ale with the early show of Sofia Coppola’s newest film, Somewhere.

Like Cakes & Ale, Somewhere (set in LA) is tasteful, tantalizing, and thoughtful. And talk about tantalizing, right now we’re loving the “little gem lettuce, lemon-anchovy dressing, and parmesan” salad, along with the “potato gnocchi, mushroom ‘Bolognese,’ and black trumpet mushrooms”. And, certainly, you can’t go wrong with an order of Phatty Cakes for dessert…trust us on that one.

We love what you guys are doing, Billy, keep up the great work!

Stay tuned to Cakes & Ale’s blog for updates about their new location coming soon.
